Update

This is going to be short and sweet because I’m WAY medicated at the moment.
The surgery went well. They ended up removing my whole thyroid instead of just one lobe of it. I guess the whole thing was infected with cancer. He also removed some lymph nodes as a precaution to see if they are cancerous. Right now the prognosis is good. If the lymph nodes come back as normal then I’m pretty much done besides the medication. If they come back abnormal then there’s more I have to do for treatment.
As of right now, it’s just good to be home and have it over with. Other than being pretty gross feeling and looking like my neck was slit open, I’m doing pretty damn good.
Thanks for all the well wishes, everyone. It looks like all the good vibes paid off (hopefully). Regardless, it’s nice knowing I no longer have a big cancerous growth in my neck.

  1. Good news, glad to hear it. My wife just had the same operation (Graves disease instead of cancer but same solution). Get well soon

  2. Hi! I just stumbled upon your blog looking for reading suggestions.

I read about your surgery. Myself, I was in a similar situation, cancer and all (different place) nearly 6 years ago. I had surgery and had a 20% possibility of the cancer reappearing. I've seen nothing of it so far, so I'm happy.

I just wanted to tell you one thing: Be positive about it. You sound like you are. Joke about it, be open about it. Don't fear it. Being positive worked wonders for me. Both your mind and your body will work better like that.

I'm sure you've heard that quite a few times, but I just can't help it.

i hope you get well soon. I will follow your blog from now on.

    Regards from Spain.

  3. This is so very good to hear – my thoughts have been with you often over the last few days and I'm hoping for a full and complete recovery. Listen to your body – rest when you need it. And keep a strong and positive attitude.

  4. Glad you are home and all is going well. 🙂 Hope the tests all come back fine and you will be good to go. Hope you feel better.
