GIVEAWAY | Three (3) copies of KUSHIEL’S DART

Kushiel’s Dart is a book I read years ago, and instantly fell in love with. The writing is absolutely stunning. The story is luscious and full of texture and surprises. The world building is both sensational and sensual. Throw in a strong female protagonist with an unforgettable voice, and you have something incredible on your hands.

In fact, quite honestly, this book set the bar for what I look for when I want to read a book with knock-it-out-of-the-park fantastic prose.

I was really excited to see that this series is getting rebooted with new covers and all that. I was even more excited when I was asked if I’d like to give away three (3) copies of this book. Of course I would!!

About the Book

The land of Terre d’Ange is a place of unsurpassing beauty and grace. It is said that angels found the land and saw it was good…and the ensuing race that rose from the seed of angels and men live by one simple rule: Love as thou wilt.

Phèdre nó Delaunay is a young woman who was born with a scarlet mote in her left eye. Sold into indentured servitude as a child, her bond is purchased by Anafiel Delaunay, a nobleman with very a special mission…and the first one to recognize who and what she is: one pricked by Kushiel’s Dart, chosen to forever experience pain and pleasure as one.

Phèdre is trained equally in the courtly arts and the talents of the bedchamber, but, above all, the ability to observe, remember, and analyze. Almost as talented a spy as she is courtesan, Phèdre stumbles upon a plot that threatens the very foundations of her homeland. Treachery sets her on her path; love and honor goad her further. And in the doing, it will take her to the edge of despair…and beyond. Hateful friend, loving enemy, beloved assassin; they can all wear the same glittering mask in this world, and Phèdre will get but one chance to save all that she holds dear.

Set in a world of cunning poets, deadly courtiers, heroic traitors, and a truly Machiavellian villainess, this is a novel of grandeur, luxuriance, sacrifice, betrayal, and deeply laid conspiracies. Not since Dune has there been an epic on the scale of Kushiel’s Dart-a massive tale about the violent death of an old age, and the birth of a new.

I’d really love to reread this one, because I don’t remember being blown away by the plot. I sort of remember all of the problems being solved with her having really great sex with people, which took away the tension of wondering how they’ll get out of each rough spot? But I’d like to tackle it again, and then give the later books a try to see if my opinion has changed at all.

I’ve had so many copies of this throughout the years. It’s one of those books you have to be careful about introducing people to, but when you find someone you know will love it, they’re hooked. I’d love a copy of the TPB.

I’ve seen Carey’s books on shelves, but I haven’t read any of them yet. I admit, with all the hype around the re-released covers, it’s piquing my interest. I like the look, old and new.

  • Kay

It’s been years since I’ve read it and I don’t think I’ve ever owned a copy. I’d love to give it a reread. Thanks for running the giveaway!

This new cover is amazing and I’d love to own a copy of it.

I do feel sort of guilty though, a lot of the other commenters seem to have never read the book and I’d hate to keep them from such a wonderful experience.

I’ve been doing research for writing a speculative fiction novel and am always appreciative of finding out about books of great accomplishments of imagination, art, human theatre. I’ve seen this book highly rated, and the whole series. I’d love to win a copy and post my review to spread awareness of it. Cheers from Calgary.

I remember reading this book in junior high after drooling over it for months debating on reading it, and it didn’t let me down. I instantly fell in love with all of the characters, cried when some died, and lovingly hated the antagonist. This is a book I reread often, have a tattoo of, and frequently check to see if new members of the series come out, which sadly there haven’t been for a while. I will always remember this book fondly for never once letting me down.
